The spring flood show “Flying Fish in Kuldīga” at the end of April

The spring flood show, "Flying Fish in Kuldīga," is slated for the twilight of April, on Saturday, the 27th, from 11:00 to 16:00.

Kuldīga’s allure will provide visitors with lots of educational activities, live music, culinary delights, and degustation, and behold the awe-inspiring spectacle of vimba breams leaping over Europe’s widest waterfall.

The festivities kick off at 11:00, as the curtains rise on the grand stage of Kuldīga’s Town Garden, heralding the commencement of the region's active tourism season. The air will resonate with melodies courtesy of the “Jūrmala” orchestra’s sextet, followed by the fusion of Latvian-Lithuanian talents in "When Jazz Meets Vimbas" and keep your eyes peeled for the Italy's "Puppet Street Band".

Explore the wonders of aquatic life at the environmental educational docks, where creatures great and small, beaks and fins, tails and wings await your discovery. Learn about the art of taxidermy and heed the call to preserve the Baltic Sea's ecosystem.

The “Tourist and Traveller’s Corner” will tempt you with the latest tourist offers and tastings. For the intrepid souls, embark on the “Float and Hook Trail,” a test of courage, agility, and ingenuity guided by the Kuldīga Scouts. And for families with little ones, the "Forest ABC Theatre" beckons, alongside the "Carpenter's Workshop" for budding artisans and the chance to knit and crochet under the tutelage of master craftsmen from the Applied Art Studio "Varavīksne" and the handicraft group "Čaupe", to play games in the open lawn with the characters of the creative association "Fairy Tale House". Europe Direct Kuldīga will also present their activities.

Art aficionados will be enraptured by the Folk Fine Arts Studio's "Kuldīgas palete" exhibition-workshop.

Gastronomes among us will enjoy smoked fish from Pāvilosta, fish soup from SIA "Cepliņi," and relish in the warmth of traditional "koča" from Padure (a "koča" refers to a traditional Latvian dish, particularly popular in rural areas. It's essentially a thick porridge made from coarse grains such as barley or wheat, cooked with water or broth)

For those seeking treasures, the spring market awaits on Liepāja and Kalna Streets. And as evening falls, gather around the hearth at the 18th Kurzeme Storytellers Festival "Ziv zup" story café in the Virspilskunga Court House Farm, on 34 Baznīcas Street.
