The Democracy Academy meets in Liepāja

This Friday, on 28 April, the participants of the Democracy Academy from Kurzeme will meet for the third workshop, this time in Liepāja, at the "Great Amber" concert hall. This meeting is going to be focused on the organisation of Democracy events and conducting polite discussions.

The day will be kicked off with a workshop on "Organising Democratic Events". Organising events is something that civic activists do quite often. This workshop will focus on events that have to be organised quickly and without a lot of resources to react to a new situation that suddenly arises.

The session will be led by Mārcis Gulbis, producer, director of the Latvian Events Forum, guest lecturer at the Latvian Academy of Culture, CEO of the company "UNTITLED".

In the second part of the event, participants will practice and learn the theory of "How to Speak Listening". The ability to converse is one of the most important elements of civic competence. Without the ability to converse, we are unable to agree or cooperate. This session will develop the skill of talking so that we can be heard and so that we can hear each other.

The session will be led by Inga Pāvula, supervisor, mentor, and consultant in the field of education and change implementation.

The first session is scheduled for 10.00-13.00 and the second for 14.00-16.00.

The concluding Democracy Academy's Kurzeme group workshop will take place on 19 May 2023 in Tukums.
