Open Theatre Day at the Liepāja Theatre!

Open Theatre Day at the Liepāja Theatre!

On Saturday, 26 August, from 11:00 to 15:00, Liepāja Theatre will be holding an Open Theatre Day, welcoming Liepāja residents and city visitors, giving them the opportunity to experience another side of theatre and access parts of it that are usually out of reach.

Everyone will have a chance to take a guided tour of the theatre, which will be available in Latvian every hour from 11:00 to 14:00, while city guest who are not speaking Latvian, will have a guided tour in English (13:00). We want you to experience the best of this day, therefore a free ticket for you will be provided in advance, but the number of places is limited at each tour. You can get a free ticket at the "Biļešu paradīze" box office (also online by entering the keywords "Atvērtā teātra diena"). Please arrive at least five minutes before the start of the tours.

Liepāja Theatre is busy rehearsing for the premiere of the first new play of the season - "Svešā āda" (Alien Skin), based on Dace Rukšāne's acclaimed novel "Krieva āda" (Russian Skin) on 22 September. The play is directed by Inga Krasovska. During the Open Theatre Day, the audience will have the opportunity to learn more about the upcoming play, as at 14:00 in the rehearsal hall, reserved for the actors and the rehearsal process for the performances, the audience is welcome to have a chat with the director. The conversation will last up to an hour, will be moderated by theatre playwright Rasa Bugavičute-Pēce and, due to the size of the rehearsal hall, free tickets are required at the "Biļešu paradīze" box office.

Meanwhile, no prior registration is required from 11:00 to 15:00, when visitors will be able to take photos in a photo booth decorated according to the style of the play "Vārdiņš", look at the costumes and sketches, as well as the posters of previous years’ performances, and vote for the one they consider to be the most success. The youngest visitors will enjoy creative activities and experiments in the theatre’s backyard with the team of “Krāsu karuselis” from 11:00 to 14:00, while until 15:00 they can also watch the entire series of the theatre’s miniseries about the adventures of Patokoļako dusty, who will soon be coming to the stage of Liepāja Theatre (premiering on 5 October). The Wheel of Fortune will be running as well, with lucky draws and a theatre café. And, of course, you may spot your favourite actors anywhere and anytime in the theatre.

In the evening, at 18:00, the theatre will host the performance "The Greeks" – the final part of Elmārs Seņkovs' trilogy, which premiered only at the end of last season, in June. The play has been nominated for 4 Annual Latvian Theatre Awards "Spēlmaņu nakts" awards, including "Large Format Production of the Year". On this day, tickets will be available at a special price and are on sale now.
