LMMDV to open an exhibition of fashion accessories created during master classes

An exhibition of works created during the project “Art@Heart   Social Handcraft Experience” master classes will be opened in the Liepaja Music, Art and Design Secondary School (LMMDV) new building at Alejas iela. The works are innovative fashion accessories, mostly made with eco-friendly and recyclable materials.

A total of 10 adults, mostly former art school graduates, took part in this year’s master classes during spring and autumn sessions. The project aims to develop creativity and promote good practice in the field of artistic handcrafting, with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental preservation. During the project, informal artistic handcraft training – jewellery master classes were organised, both remotely and in person, promoting the development of artistic skills and entrepreneurial knowledge useful in the labour market.

The project “Art@Heart   Social Handcraft Experience” is a strategic partnership to support innovation in the adult education sector, originally created to respond to the emergency situation related to the Covid 19 pandemic. The partnership consists of “Associazione Atelier degli Artigianelli” (Italy) as project coordinator, “LAO Le Arti Orafe” (Italy), “Fondazione Spazio Reale” (Italy), “Escuela de Arte 3” (Spain) and The Centre of Competency Based Professional Education Liepaja Music, Art and Design Secondary School (Latvia).

The emergency situation caused by the Covid 19 pandemic caused significant damage to the cultural and creative sectors and had an impact on human relationships. The aim of the project was to improve the skills and knowledge of participants, which foster creativity and personal growth, ensure quality and innovation, and support the creative potential of adults, thus contributing to the resilience of the cultural and artistic sectors. The project supports social inclusion through arts based intercultural and participatory dialogue linked to education, training and the organisation of cultural creative industries.
