On Tuesday, 31 October, the Liepāja Music, Art, and Design High School welcomes all of us to the traditional Liepāja Jazz Music Jam Session on the 2nd floor public space of the concert hall “Great Amber” at 19.00. This time their special guest will be Veronika ChiChi.
Veronika ChiChi has earned her reputation as one of the acclaimed jazz vocalists in Lithuania, infusing her music with both traditional and contemporary jazz improvisation. In the realm of musical expression, her voice carries profound soulfulness and masterful improvisations. To get the best understanding of Veronika’s musical narrative, one should tune in to her inaugural opus, “Singer of a 1000 faces.”
“Singer of a 1000 faces” is a jazz album revealing Veronika as an experienced composer and a capable quartet leader. The majority of the songs she did in collaboration with the best Lithuanian and Estonian jazz musicians were created with just the first rehearsal. Veronika’s compositions, jazz standards and her voice tug at the heartstrings of every listener.
Having studied in Lithuania and Germany, Veronika has frequently appeared on jazz stages around the world since 2012. In addition to her quartet, Veronika duets with her husband Dmitri Golovanov, sings in the retro-swing trio “The Ditties”, enjoys the contemporary opera music stage and contributes to numerous other musical projects, touring America, China, and all over Europe.
The concept of the Jam Session music evening considers a free, relaxed atmosphere for jazz music and improvisation. For the first part of the event, we will host a guest artist with a backup band. Students of the Popular and Jazz Music Department of the LMMDV will join in the second part of the event, playing free improvisations. The Jam Session evenings are a great platform for the audience to become closer to jazz music, to learn more about it and to get to know well-known artists from Latvia and Europe.
