Liepāja Museum to open daily in summer

From the beginning of June until the end of August, the Liepāja Museum at Kūrmājas prospekts 16/18 will be open daily from 10.00-18.00. Meanwhile, the Liepāja 17th-19th Century Interiors Museum “Madame Hoyer’s Guest House” at Kungu Street 24 will be open on Tuesdays from 10.00 to 18.00 in addition to the usual opening hours during the summer season.

Opening hours for the Liepāja Museum are attractive thanks to the summer student job project organised by the State Employment Agency (SEA) in cooperation with the Liepāja Municipality Agency “Employment Projects”.

The Liepāja Museum will employ a total of 36 young people, who will supervise exhibitions, work as caretakers and cleaners, as well as contribute to the work of the museum’s collections department, which holds and cares for more than 130 000 cultural heritage items about the history of Liepāja and South Kurzeme.

From 8 June to 30 July, you are welcome to attend the exhibition “RETROSPEKTROPIJA” in the enfilade of the Liepāja Museum, while in the small hall until 2 July – the exhibition of Azerbaijani carpets “AZERBAIJANI CARPETS. A synergy of past and present”, featuring original wool carpets handmade in the traditional Azerbaijani carpet weaving technique. Notably, Liepāja became the first place not only in the Baltics, but in the whole Northern Europe, to bring such a distinguished exhibition.

On 9 June, the Liepāja Museum in collaboration with the Alexander Vasiliev Foundation will open the exhibition “A Moment Before. Wedding Costumes, early 19th-20th century”. Exhibition will be open until 10 September.

Until 1 October, the Liepāja 17th -19th Century Interiors Museum at 24 Kungu Street will be showing the “Victorian Era Porcelain” exhibition, featuring English, German, French and Russian porcelain items from the Zuzāns collection.
