Kurzeme Planning Region Opens Call for Cultural Projects Under the Kurzeme Culture Programme 2024

Kurzeme Planning Region announces the launch of the project competition “Kurzeme Culture Programme 2024,” which is part of the State Culture Capital Foundation’s target programme, “Development Programme of Historical Latvian Lands.” The call for applications is now open, with the deadline set for March 27, 2024.

The “Kurzeme Culture Programme 2024” offers financial support for cultural projects initiatives that aim to foster cultural accessibility for the public on regional and local levels. Focused project directions under the Kurzeme Culture Programme 2024:

• projects that enhance the accessibility of quality arts and culture in Kurzeme

• initiatives that delve into and preserve the unique cultural diversity of Kurzeme

• projects that promote Kurzeme-related innovativeness

• projects focused on the preservation, practice, documentation, research, and transfer of traditional knowledge and craft skills, encourage the seamless integration of these elements into tourism activities

• projects that actively involve children and young people in cultural activities

• capacity-building initiatives for cultural workers and craftsmen through seminars, exchange programs, training sessions, etc.

• activities that vividly depict and promote the distinctiveness of Kurzeme's cultural spaces and regions

• initiatives related to the identification, practice, and promotion of Latvian language varieties, including the unique Liv language.

The call for projects is open to applications scheduled for implementation from May 1 to December 15, 2024, within the administrative territories of the Kurzeme Region, including South Kurzeme Region, Kuldīga Region, Saldus Region, Talsi Region, Tukums Region, Ventspils Region, as well as the cities of Liepāja and Ventspils.
