Inese Kučinska and Mārtiņš Kalita named best in the Liepāja Theatre audience vote

Since 2008, the Liepāja Theatre has established a beautiful tradition, giving the audience by the end of the season the opportunity to vote for their favourite and best actors, as well as the best performance. Now, you can’t imagine the end of the season at Liepāja Theatre without this vote.

This year the voting celebrated its 15th anniversary, and for the 4th time the voting was sponsored by “Tiamo Group”. In the 116th season, a total of 7 new productions were included in the voting, including the adaptation of Martin McDonagh’s “The Beauty Queen of Leenane” directed by Dž.Dž.Džilindžers, which was staged at the end of the last season. Whereas the last production of this season, “The Greeks”, will be included in next year’s vote.

Inese Kučinska was named Best Actress, Mārtiņš Kalita Best Actor, Everita Pjata-Gertner Best Supporting Actress and Kaspars Gods took the Best Supporting Actor’s award.

The audience voted the play “Le Prenom” directed by Dž.Dž.Džilindžers as this season’s most successful performance of Liepāja Theatre. The second place in the audience vote went to the same director’s production of Mc Donagh’s “The Beauty Queen of Leenane”, and the third place went to Matīss Budovskis’ production of “The Song Festival”.

Now it’s time for the national jury of “Spēlmaņu nakts” Award to announce the nominees among the Latvian theatres, while the Liepāja Theatre Team heads off on vacation to gear up for the upcoming August with several courtyard concerts as part of the “Summer Evenings at Liepāja Theatre” series, as well as to meet again for the performance “Greeks” on 26 August, when the Liepāja Theatre plans to hold an “Open Theatre Day”.
