Exhibition of works from the graphic design competition “IESPĒJA” opens

An exhibition of works created in the graphic design competition “IESPĒJA” has been opened in the exhibition hall of the second extension of the Liepaja Music, Art and Design Secondary School (LMMDV) in Alejas iela 18.

83 young people participated in the competition from Latvian art and design secondary schools and Children’s art schools. Among the best entries were also students from LMMDV.

The aim of the competition was to promote young people’s interest in the field of communication – graphic design, to develop young people’s practical and digital working skills, and creativity by creating original and high-quality works, to promote young people’s ability to observe what is happening around them and to be able to represent their opinions in graphic design.

The jury of the competition consisted of Graphic Designer Miķelis Baštiks, Head of LMMDV division for Creative Work for Art and Design Programmes Iveta Heinacka, LMMDV graphic design Teacher Valters Palaps

The opening of the exhibition and the award ceremony was preceded by a guest lecture by Miķelis Baštiks and a methodical experience exchange seminar “Implementation of the Modular Programme of Communication Design” (“Komunikācijas dizaina modulārās programmas realizēšanā”). The lecture was also available on the online platform Zoom. M. Baštiks guest lecture, the graphic design competition and the exhibition with the award ceremony were realised with the support of State Culture Capital Foundation through the project “Communication Design Competition” (“Konkurss Komunikāciju dizaina nozarē”). The idea of the project on the competition in Communication Design was realised, because LMMDV has been delegated to coordinate the implementation of the modular programme in communication design on a Latvian-wide scale.
