Exhibition of works by new media art students

Over the weekend, the MA students from the New Media Arts programme presented their works at the exhibition together with the BA 2nd year students, who showed their final works from the Sound Art module. You are welcome to visit the exhibition on all three floors of the Liepāja University building on Kuršu Street.

Anna Priedola, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Liepāja, shares her impressions: “I am particularly delighted with the thematic diversity and the quality of the final works. The chosen topics are fascinating, with intensely personal approaches, yet relevant also in the context of the present age of climate change, where young people are either pursuing alternatives in subcultures, entertainment, virtual, immersive worlds, or, on the contrary, seeking new, more empathetic ways of interacting with their environment. The final sound art works of the 2nd year students provide a meditative framework for the exhibition. When you visit the exhibition, please wear comfortable clothes so you can relax your body and eyes and immerse in the sound compositions.”

The sound art works were made under the supervision of sound artist Krista Dintere, composer Platons Buravickis, musicologist and music producer Dace Bluķe.

Meanwhile, in the foyer of the 2nd floor of the University of Liepāja, you will find the best works created by the students of the “Design” study programme’s 2nd year as part of the module “Illustration”. Welcome to take a look!
