The Latvian National Centre for Culture announces the upcoming Festival of Latvian Minorities, “Vaļā vērti atslēdziņ'!” to be held in Liepāja during the summer of 2024, from June 29 to June 30. This celebration invites applications from diverse minority collectives, non-governmental organizations, individual performers, as well as professionals in applied arts and crafts - dedicated guardians of the traditional cultural heritage across Latvia.

Now in its third year, the Festival of Latvian Minorities aims to promote and cultivate the rich traditional cultural heritage of Latvia's minority communities. The festival endeavours to inspire these communities to recognize the significance of their cultural contributions within the broader Latvian cultural landscape, fostering meaningful intercultural interactions. Anticipated to draw several hundred participants, the festival will feature a grand procession and opening ceremony, two days of dynamic and colourful concert programs, a gala concert, a folk costume show, open-air performances in the urban environment of Liepāja, enlightening lectures, skilful masterclasses, an art exhibition, presentations of national cuisine, creative workshops, and various other engaging events.
