Applications are open for the Traditional Culture Excellence Award

The perfect recognition for your fellows! Until 22 September, you can nominate folk music bands or groups for the Traditional Culture Excellence Award.

The Traditional Culture Excellence Award is an award presented by the LNCC to an individual excellence or a performing group for outstanding merit or major contribution to the development and preservation of the cultural environment of their region or city. This year, the Traditional Culture Excellence Award will be awarded within the folk music sector – to a folk music band or group.

Outstanding merit or major contribution is defined as both exceptional work and a long, distinguished, and successful career.

The Excellence Award shall be granted once during the lifetime of a folk music band or group.

The nomination for the award will be evaluated by a committee established according to the LNCC Director's decision. The winner will be awarded a Certificate of Honour and a 1300 EUR monetary prize.

The Traditional Culture Excellence Award is presented every third year in each sector - in 2022 the award was given to a folklore ensemble, and next year it will be given to a folk applied arts group or a representative of a field.
