A few more days to register for "Liepāja's Footprints in Latvia" orienteering games

Just a few more days remain, until April 23rd, for all those eager to participate in the thrilling orienteering games for teams known as "Liepāja's Footprints in Latvia," scheduled for May 4th. This year's theme for the games is "New Eyes!"

Orienteering offers an awesome opportunity to explore Liepāja with a fresh perspective, delving into the city's depths and rediscovering it with "new eyes". Open to friends, families, and groups alike, these games provide a dynamic and enlightening way to spend time together. Participation fosters team spirit, encourages physical activity, and promises an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Since the launch of registration, a total of 129 teams have already signed up for the games. The majority comprise teams on foot (60), followed by cyclists (50) and car drivers (19).

Teams consisting of three to five members can still apply for the games until April 23rd by accessing the Liepāja electronic application system and completing the registration form.

For successful participation, teams must ensure they have at least one smart device with internet connection, as the orienteering map will be accessible digitally via a special app.

Teams are encouraged to embrace the national holiday spirit by decorating themselves in national colour of red-white-re attire on the day of the games.

On May 4th, registration will commence at 10:00 on Jānis Čakste Square, followed by the opening of the games at 11:00 and a technical briefing for all participants. Whereas teams are expected to reach the finish line at the Rožu iela 6, in front of Liepāja City Hall, between 15:00 and 15:30. Winners will be honoured during the festive concert at Jānis Čakste Square at 16:30.

Organized by Liepāja City Municipality in collaboration with the foundation "Liepāja 2027 Foundation," local companies, NGOs, and other partners, the games receive funding from the Liepāja City Municipality and the Ministry of Culture.
