2023 Researchers' Night will be held all across Latvia - the Science and Education Innovation Centre will offer activities in anatomy, robotics and digital production

Researchers’ Night is an annual event in Latvia, which this year will take place on Friday, 29 September. “Its aim is to bring science research a step closer to the public by promoting interest in science, especially among young people,” says the Ministry of Education and Science, therefore the Liepāja City Education Department’s Science and Education Innovation Centre (hereinafter – ZIIC) is also among the organisations that will open their doors to everyone from 18.00 to 21.00, free of charge and without prior registration.

According to available public information, 35 events will be organised in Latvia as part of the 2023 Researchers’ Night, and 4 (four) in Liepāja, of which 3 (three) will be organised by ZIIC.

1. The "Anatomy Detective" will be held at the Science and Education Innovation Centre's venue at Zirgu Island 2, Nature House.

Event programme:

● 18.00-19.00 Workshop for the youngest (5-7 years) "Little Anatomy Detective"

○ Making your own fingerprints, studying them under a microscope.

○ Writing a secret message.

○ Searching for footprints with a UV flashlight.

○ Interactive anatomy displays, looking through a microscope.

● 19.00-21.00 Workshop for children, youth, adults "Big Anatomy Detective"

○ Informative story under the guidance of a forensic expert.

○ Interactive anatomy displays, looking through a microscope.

The "Robot Lab" activity will take place at the Science and Education Innovation Centre at 4/6 Autoru Street.

Event programme:

● 18.00-21.00 Engineering activities for everyone

○ Demonstrations of engineering solutions.

○ Programming of the constructed robots.

○ Robot controllability.

The "Digital Production of Sweets" will take place at the Science and Education Innovation Centre at 17/23 Klāva Ukstiņa Street, "FabLab".

Event programme:

● 18.00-21.00 Digital production demonstration

○ Digital design transfer to a digital production machine.

○ Digital production machine operating principles.

○ Role of vacuum forming in the food industry.

○ Tasting.

Each venue has limited capacity to 30 people at a time, thus you may have to wait outside in case of larger queues.
