Welcome to the Liepāja Concert Hall’s immersive sound tasting at the Night of Museums

On Saturday, 13 May, as part of the “Night of Museums”, Liepāja Concert Hall “Great Amber” will open its doors to the public from 20:00 to 01:00, welcoming people to discover this year’s motto “Live Creatively!” through the world of sound art. The highlight of the event will be experiencing Platon Buravitsky’s immersive or spatial sound installation “In Search of Myself”.

On the stage of the Concert Hall’s Great Hall Dirty Deal Audio company will set up an immersive surround sound dome with 21 evenly arranged loudspeakers. By entering and moving through the immersive sound installation, the public will be able to “taste” and fully immerse in a three-dimensional sound space – to experience a new collective listening experience. The installation will be available to around 25 people at a time.

The installation “In Search of Myself” is the result of more than five years of research into spatial sound and the ambisonics technique by composer Platon Buravitsky, which includes self-searching experiments and discoveries, as well as fragments from the compositions “Rütteln Zeite” (2016), “Polishing Forgotten Memories” /Aizmirsto atmiņu pulēšana/ (2019), “Spin” (2022), “Under Love’s Shelter” /Zem mīlestības patvēruma/ (2023).

Immersive sound is a revolutionary music media that has been rapidly taking over our daily lives over the last decade. Behind this term are innovative methods for creating an acoustic virtual reality and replicating physical sound space. Spatial sound techniques are fundamentally changing the principles of audio production and musical content creation – from sound recording to performance.

Since 2011, Dirty Deal Audio (DDA) company has organised countless concerts and networking events for independent Latvian and Baltic music and has been involved in music recordings and new music promotion activities. DDA promotes immersive sound formats through workshops and lectures, listening sessions and concert programmes.

Followed by the immersive sound tasting, concert hall visitors are welcome to explore the Latvian Designers’ Union exhibition “Natures of silence” at the Civita Nova art space. During the event, you can also enjoy refreshments and snacks at the café “Čello”.

Moreover, throughout the day, until 00:00, you will be able to buy tickets with a 30% discount to events organised by SIA “Lielais Dzintars”, Ltd. Discount tickets are limited and discounts do not add up. They will be on sale at the concert hall's information centre, at the "Biļešu paradīze" box offices throughout Latvia and on the website www.bilesuparadize.lv.

“Night of Museums” activities at the Liepāja concert hall “Great Amber” are supported by the Liepāja Museum and the Liepāja Municipality. Please contact the concert hall information centre for details. Opening hours: Monday-Friday: 11.00-17.00, Saturday, Sunday: 10.00-15.00.
