The first Latvian photo album with augmented reality “A Walk Through Beautiful Liepāja. Renaissance”. The album is published by the association “Liepāja 400”. It comes as a sequel to the popular book “A Walk Through Beautiful Liepāja”, which was published two years ago and won the Liepāja Culture Award.
The new edition features more than 200 carefully selected and mastered pictures of Liepāja from the period before World War I. 70 of them are available in augmented reality. This means that by downloading the “Old Libau” app, opening it and placing it next to the images in the book, you will be able to see what the place looks like today. Unlike the first edition, this one will be in full colour.
“A walk through beautiful Liepāja. Renaissance” project was supervised by Andris Ivanovs and Kaspars Migla, in collaboration with the Director of the Liepāja Museum Dace Kārkla. The augmented reality and the app was developed by the Digital Innovation Park with Agate Ambulte in charge, while the integration of ancient Liepāja with the modern city was coordinated and managed by Gints Egliņš.
The innovative solution of the album was supported by the Liepāja Culture Department, the Liepāja Special Economic Zone Authority, Aloizs Norkus, UPTK, SIA “VEGA 1 Serviss” and “Via Vitalité”. We welcome everyone to join us at the event on 30th of June, at 5.pm., in Museum of Liepaja.
Please be advised that photography and video filming will be carried out during the event. The footage will be used for publicity purposes of the event and the Liepāja Museum. By being in the event area, you acknowledge that you are aware of being included in the audio or visual material.
