Invitation to an interactive trivia quiz for young people about the Karosta

As part of the "Learn. Discover. Think. Do" event series, young people are invited to join an interactive trivia quiz on 23 March at 17.00 at the House of Hope (67 Rīgas Street).

Young people are going to be introduced to this project and its activities, followed by a quiz to test their current knowledge about the history and natural diversity of the Karosta and learn some previously unexplored facts.

The pilot activities of the “Future DiverCities” project will be carried out from February to June this year in Karosta as part of the “Learn. Discover. Think. Do.” It will explore the positive aspects of the void in urban space: vacant areas as shared spaces for the local community and as floating expanses that require temporary and fluent use as biodiversity sanctuaries. This includes the question of how to revitalise vacant urban areas without creating new buildings and increasing the density of urban development.

In addition, we will also focus on the new ways of creating cultural activities that boost public awareness of the role of ecology and that encourage participation in the creation of an environmentally friendly townscape.

Project activities will include a discussion, trivia game, orienteering, meditation, engaging the local community in the art process, and involving international researchers in the methodology elaboration.

Until 2025, all project activities will be carried out in nine European cities – Berlin (Germany), Zagreb and Split (Croatia), Kuopio (Finland), Marseille (France), Florence (Italy), Timişoara (Romania), Eleusis (Greece) and also in Liepāja.

The project is organised by the Liepāja Culture Department.
