Call for talented young people to apply for the “Liepāja IT Talent Programme” training course

The Digital Innovation Park welcomes applications for a unique training programme enabling talented young people from 10th to 12th grade to master information technology (IT) skills at an advanced level, thus providing a strong knowledge foundation for those who pursue their future studies and careers in the technology industry. The training course will kick off on 8 February and will focus on the practical skills required in the day-to-day work of an IT professional.

Based on the successful experience in implementing the all-Latvian training programme for young people “Artificial Intelligence (AI) Talent Programme”, the Digital Innovation Park in cooperation with the Liepāja IT professionals has come up with a new, and unique in Latvia, training course “Liepāja IT Talent Programme”. The primary goal of this programme is to provide an opportunity for young people with outstanding achievements in studies, pursuing their future career development in one of the IT professions, to master the required skills at an advanced level in order to successfully continue their professional development in globally demanded professions. “Liepāja IT Talent Programme” will equip young people with the skills to develop websites and carry out practical programming projects alongside their general high school education. Cooperation with the IT sector will also open up summer internships in Liepāja companies.

According to Agate Ambulte, Head of the Digital Innovation Park, “There is great value in the fact that the programme is developed in close cooperation with experienced IT professionals who have been working in the sector for more than 20 years, and their knowledge will empower young people to take a quantum leap in their career development in information technologies. It is no longer a secret that these professions are in a constant demand and salaries for qualified specialists are above the national average. By giving our young people the opportunity to make a head start in their IT careers, we want to increase the capacity and knowledge of Liepāja’s future professionals. Our vision is that Liepāja has the potential to be a place for new IT professionals to grow and develop.”

“Liepāja IT Talent Programme” will run for four months and will launch on 8 February. It will target young people in 10th to 12th grades with outstanding performances in IT and science subjects and will be organised so that the learning can be combined in parallel with general high school studies. Altogether, there will be 18 weekly sessions, which will cover practical skills in web development, programming, and industry-relevant technologies, setting the stage for a successful career in IT. Focusing in particular on React, a JavaScript development tool widely used in the industry. The training will take place in person at the rooms of the University of Liepāja.
